• WHO WE ARE

De Angelis Opera Studio takes the name from Bass Nazzareno De Angelis, of which I am the  grand grand niece.

My name is Milvia and I am an operatic Soprano.

I specialise in training opera singers of all ages and experiences.

My background starts with traditional Belcanto technique; I studied with two great names of the past, Mr Paolo Silveri and Mrs Angelica Tuccari. 

Later on I perfectioned my technique under the guidance of Maestro Sherman Lowe.

When I was very young my 2 belcanto teachers taught me all the nuances of the complex art of phrasing, sustaining consistently "sul fiato" (on the breathing), which is the basics of classical singing and support, and can actually be used on all the types of singing. And much more: how to vibrate, reach top notes, exert "squillo" (the ringing quality of operatic voice that can cut and overcome a full orchestra without microphones).

Passaggio, the change and blending of registers, chiaroscuro techniques, were daily topics of my amazing singing classes in the early years of my studies.

I soon was also introduced to studying the most suitable Opera repertoire for my Dramatic Soprano voice, with the help of a repetiteur pianist.

Later on I needed to boost my abilities in order to obtain a more suitable sound for the modern needs of Opera theatres.

I was lucky enough to be a student of pedagogue and guru of Opera singing, mr Sherman Lowe. I have been training with him for the last 10 years and discovered my fullest potential and real nature of my voice, developing into a Falcon Soprano/Mezzo.

My long experience as a teacher and  professional opera performer enable me to teach classical singing at the highest level; many professional opera singers are part of my class and I help them to prepare for their career and auditions.

I welcome motivated beginners and advanced opera singers of all ages regardless of their level or experience.
